8053571353_6612bba46f_mCongratulations to the Mt Vernon High School FFA Land Judging team! The team, consisting of Natalie Oud, McKenna Medders, Brandon Williams, and Hylke Talsma, competed in the State Competition at Tarleton State University on April 23, 2015. With a solid 4th place finish, the team earned a spot to compete at the National Contest in Oklahoma City.

For those unfamiliar with the land evaluation contest, this is a CDE (Career Development Event) that requires students to observe soil and landscape conditions, and then recommend land treatments based on their findings. It’s a tough competition that takes a wide knowledge base of soil, land, and vegetation specifics.

Good lick to Mt Vernon at the National Contest!
